We spend the night in Oamaru just so that we can see the penguins. Here are two yellow-eyed penguins, one of the world's rarest penguins, only found arount the southern coast of NZ.

Here are two yellow-eye penguin babies - about 2 months old and both the parents have gone to sea to look for food, leaving the little ones behind, hungry and very vulnerable.

The babies are born hidden up in the brush above the beach and initially one of the parents stays with the babies each day, but when they get older, both parents go out to sea for food.
